Prints
My prints are taken from collagraph, drypoint and etched plates. Collagraphs are made by cutting into and sticking shapes onto a board which is then sealed and inked. They take time to produce but are great fun with their embossed quality. I enjoy mark making and creating line in drypoint and etching – both are exciting ways to experiment with drawing.
Each print is unique therefore I seldom make an edition but will reprint a plate on request. I mix the colour while inking the plate so each one is different in texture and tone. There’s always an element of surprise when removing a print from the press. I may apply paper, tissue or metal leaf on top of the ink (chine-colle) or hand colour the print in watercolour or gouache.
